2nd Annual "Taste" draws crowd of 450

Judging from the crowd alone, the 2nd annual Taste of Ste. Genevieve County held at the Ste. Gen Community Center was a huge success, drawing an estimated crowd of 450.
“Given the incredible variety of food and drink samples, no one could have possibly left hungry or thirsty,” said Shawn Long, Director of the Friends Foundation.
New this year, was MC J.C. Corcoran of Classic Rock 93.1 FM radio station.
“He brought his humor and excitement and kept the crowd fired up,” said Long.
The cork pull expanded for this year’s event. There were just shy of 150 bottles of wine and spirits and all corks were sold.
One vendor said the event was like one big party.
“Everyone was having a great time,” said Jan Weiler of Kona Ice. “As a vendor it was so much fun just to socialize with everyone who came to the booth.”
The Friends committed the funds from the event to pay for the central monitoring system that is now in full use by the hospital’s OB Department.
Event sponsors were Holcim, Watertower Winery, Oberle Meats, Glick’s, America Solutions for Business, Plumbing Industry Council, Kohlfeld Distributing, 573 Magazine, Bluff City Beer Co., Piva Group North America, Cotton’s Ace Hardware, Tom and Susan Keim, and Bruce and Diana Giesler
“We greatly thank our sponsors, our vendors,auctioneer Tom Okenfuss,  the Friends Foundation board, our Partners and SGCMH employee volunteers, plus the Rotary Club of Ste. Genevieve, parents of Boy Scout Troop 150, and all auction and door prize contributors,” said Long. “It takes a lot of people to stage an event of this size, so we are very appreciative of all the help we received.”
