Friends Foundation gear up for holiday ornament sales

11/19/2015

The Friends Foundation at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital is gearing up for the holidays with ornament sales and a silent auction. Ornament sales will continue until December 18.

Participants may purchase a $100 star or $50, $30 or $15 globe ornaments. A designated military ornament is also available, and if you’ve lost a loved one in 2015, the Friends Foundation will place a complimentary dove on the tree with your loved one’s name.

Shawn Long, Friends Director describes the Giving Tree Program.

Ornaments can be purchased ONLINE via a secure payment page or participants can PRINT A FORM and mail it in or pick one up at the hospital front lobby. Also Giving Tree cards are located throughout the community including Country Mart, Ste. Genevieve Community Center and SGCMH physicians offices.

“This event was the very first event held by the Friends Foundation,” Long said. “It allows us the chance to honor important people in our lives—those who are still living or those who have passed away. Each ornament hung on our tree represents someone special. And through these ornament sales, our Foundation is able to purchase much needed equipment for this hospital.”

The ornament sales will continue until December 18. Persons who have purchased an ornament may hang their ornament on the tree or the Foundation will gladly hang it for them.

The Foundation is also excited about its Silent Auction to take place December 7 through December 11.

“This event is as much fun for the employees as it is for the bidders,” said Long. “Hospital departments and individual employees outdo themselves in making unique gift baskets and themed gifts. At 12:59 p.m. on Friday, December 11, there will be a bidding frenzy. It’s always fun.”

The auction will take place in the hospital front lobby, so residents of the community are invited to get in on the bidding action.

The volunteer Friends Board is comprised of community members who serve a maximum of two, three-year terms. Current members are Vickie Winkler – President, Bruce Giesler - Vice-President, Larry Roderman –Treasurer, Larry Drury, Jim Francis, Mary Odneal, Mike Horrell, Dr. Craig Ruble, Dr. Theresa Cavins and Rob Walsh, MBA, MS, PhD, CRNA.
