Pink bench makes the rounds in historic district

10/15/2016

This pink bench has been spotted around Ste. Genevieve's historic district. What's up?
“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and when people see this pink bench around town, I hope they'll think of the strength, courage, faith and hope that it takes to battle cancer," said Theresa Cavins, breast surgeon and Medical Director of the Metis Breast Center. "And now we’ve added more to our arsenal of weapons against cancer, including 3D Mammography, which significantly increases cancer detection." The 3D Mammography screenings are available now at the Bloomsdale Medical Centre. The pink bench was purchased from the Ste. Genevieve Rotary Club who is collecting caps to make into benches as a "green" community project. A total of 400 pounds of caps is needed to make one bench. For residents wanting to collect caps for the club, which are not recyclable at the Recycling Center, they may drop them off at city hall, Ste. Genevieve County Health Department, Ste. Genevieve Ambulance District or Bloomsdale Bank.
