Ste. Gen Vision Wins Friends Golf Tourney
“A perfect day for golf,” was said by many a golfer at the recent 12th annual charity golf tournament to benefit the Friends Foundation at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH). Morning showers gave way to a mix of sun and clouds and a temperature around 80 degrees at tee-off time at the Ste. Genevieve Golf Club.
“This is our second tournament this year,” he said. “Our first tournament in May at Castle Ridge raised $23,000 for our foundation. With your help today, I hope we can raise just as much. Thank you for your support.”
SGCMH CEO Tom Keim (above right) also thanked participants.
“As a small community hospital, it’s important that we work hard to raise funds to allow us to be the provider of choice by being the employer of choice,” he said. “Thanks to you we’ve been able to add a lot of new equipment over the last ten years that I’ve been here, and we’re able to continue to provide our community with outstanding healthcare.”
Keim gave special recognition to sponsors Larry and Nancy Roderman, and CE Contracting for donating lunch; Dr. Craig Ruble and Signature Health and Lee Lottes of Lakenan Insurance for sponsoring the steak dinner; and Jim Francis of State Farm for sponsoring the desserts.
Ste. Gen Vision Care kept their eye on the ball and won the tournament with a score of 58. Incidentally, this team also won the Foundation’s tournament held in June. The team is pictured above with teammate Clint Wolk "flipping" over the great day of golf. Rounding out the championship flight was Electrical Contractors with a score of 60 and SGCMH Anesthesia Team# 2 with a score of 62.
B Flight winners were McGrath and Associates finishing first with a score of 66; and with a scorecard playoff, Rollet Brothers Trucking Company came in second and Artisan Team #1 both with 67. C Flight winners, again with a scorecard playoff, were Signature Health in first and Wayne Schweigert’s team in second, both with a score of 70; and Park Place in third with 72.
Other links happenings included Shannon Blum winning the women’s longest drive on hole 2; Greg Ladd winning the longest men’s drive on hole 17; and closest to the pin on hole 4 was awarded to Clint Wolk. The Printing Company sponsored the hole-in-one contest on hole 10 and was prepared to give away a $7,000 golf cart from Carr’s Golf Carts, but no one made the shot.
