Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) conducted a “Teddy Bear Clinic” at its Bloomsdale Medical Centre for residents to meet Dr. Kelli Boelens, a new pediatrician at Bloomsdale Family Health Care.
Children were invited to bring their own teddy bears and Dr. Boelens “examined” their little friends to make sure they were healthy. Dr. Boelens checked out, not only teddy bears, but an owl, a penguin, a dog, a duck and more.

The hospitals unofficial mascot, Sparkle Bee, made an appearance and a station was set up for parents to learn more about the patient portal at SGCMH.

“The kids were very enthusiastic once they got over their shyness,” said Dr. Boelens. “The expressions on their faces when they saw Sparkle Bee was priceless, and it’s true, kids really do say the funniest things.”

A "Build-A-Bear" teddy bear was also given away in a special drawing. Sara Schmieder was the winner. The" Guess How Many Jelly Beans" contest was won by Chloe Runk. Her guess was 1,000--there were 1052!
