Each year, the Missouri Division of Workforce Development honors an Individual from each of its 14 Workforce Development Regions to receive an Individual Achievement Award.
Devon Boland, RRT in our respiratory therapy department, is the recipient of this honor from the Southeast Region.
The award will be given to Devon by the Governor at an awards ceremony on September 15.
This award is given to the person in that region who is deemed to have overcome obstacles and adversity to achieve excellence in re-entering the workforce.
Devon is a single mom and faced time and financial challenges while going to school and raising her family.
“Evidence of her accomplishments include graduating at the top of her class with a 4.0 GPA, and receiving honors for academic performance and clinical skills,” said Tom Sexauer, Director of Respiratory therapy at SGCMH. “The clinical skill assessment was based on laboratory class performance and most notably, from the preceptors who worked with her during clinical rotations. We congratulate her and are proud that she chooses to work here.”
The Department of Economic Development business and Community Services sent a videographer to SGCMH on July 29 to film Devon. A short video will be shown at the awards ceremony.
