The Taste of Ste. Genevieve
available all over town

From the local restaurants to the traditional Sunday
dinner practiced in hundreds of homes, Ste. Genevieve cooking is as rich in
history as its historic past.
The Mini Amis, hospital employee partners of The
Friends of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, has brought the flavor
of the past to life in a new cookbook called The Taste of Ste. Genevieve.
"This is really a quality cookbook," said Lauren
Moore, Friends coordinator. “It's hardbound with a beautiful montage of
photos representative of Ste. Genevieve on the front and back covers. There
is quite a variety, too, with 400 recipes submitted from a number of the
B&Bs, restaurants, local physicians and townspeople. It contains extra pages
of cooking tips and terms, conversion charts, measurements and substitutions
and more.”
Moore explained that there is one aspect of the book
that really sets it apart.
“What really makes our cookbook special are the
little anecdotes that follow most of the recipes,” she said. “From these
notes, we get a sense of tradition that runs through all of Ste. Genevieve.
I think it adds a very nice, personal touch.”
"The cookbook, which will
cost $15.95, will make for excellent Christmas gifts, appreciation gifts,
hostess gifts and the like," said Moore. “We've got a thousand of them to
sell, so make sure all the cooks in your family each get one."
The Taste of Ste.
Genevieve is available locally at the hospital front desk, the hospital
gift shop, Riverview-at-the-Park, Bloomsdale Family Health Center, The
Interpretive Center, Show-Me Shop, Treasured Memories, Collage, Sweet Things, Monia’s,
Ivy and Twigs, and Barley Chevrolet. Books may also be ordered
online.
Proceeds from the
cookbook will support the Friends of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital
in its fundraising efforts to support the growth and success of the
hospital. |
