Local company boosts
campaign
near $1,000,000 mark

Ste.
Genevieve County Memorial Hospital announced that a local corporation has
committed significant funding to the hospital’s Friends Foundation Capital
Campaign, My Health, My Home, My Hospital, launched in October 2007.
Mississippi Lime Company donated $300,000 to the campaign, pushing the
campaign near $1,000,000. The money raised in the campaign will be used to
purchase a 64-slice CT scanner; redesign the main lobby; and make exterior
renovations to match the new ER. Recognized for investing in organizations
that contribute to a vibrant community, Mississippi Lime directs much of its
philanthropy to the community’s anchor institutions, like Ste. Genevieve
County Memorial Hospital.

CEO; and Larry Roderman, Advanced Gifts Chairperson.
“This is the single biggest donation we’ve ever
made,” said Mike DeCola, Mississippi Lime Company CEO. “This community is a
vital part of our fabric. So this is a great opportunity for us to give back
and do something that will benefit our employees and their families as well
as the rest of the community.”
Mississippi Lime Company, now over a century old, employs nearly 600
employees locally and close to 800 company-wide. DeCola said the company,
its employees and their families all depend on the services of Ste.
Genevieve County Memorial Hospital.
“The
hospital is an essential part of our employees’ lives for everyday
healthcare as well as much more serious health issues,” DeCola said. “Having
the hospital close by is extremely important for them and us in the event of
an on-site accident. In addition, we tap into the hospital resources to help
us with workplace injury prevention and ways to keep a healthy workforce.
Our partnership with the hospital cuts across a variety of different
fronts.”
The donation moves the hospital significantly
closer to its Capital Campaign goal of $2.2 million.
“We’re
very excited that Mississippi Lime Company has shown such great support for
this campaign,” said Tim Keim, hospital
CEO. “Support from the community is
absolutely critical for our hospital to fulfill the healthcare needs and
expectations of our residents. This community can be proud of the
fact that Ste. Genevieve County Memorial has been at the forefront of
diagnostic imaging and technology. The advanced technology we employ makes
early detection and diagnosis of disease and other ailments faster, more
accurate and more reliable than ever before—and that allows us to help more
people live longer, healthier and happier lives. And with the addition of
the 64-slice CT, more of that care can be done right here at home.”
Keim said the very generous donation by
Mississippi Lime really propels the Capital Campaign closer to its goal.
“Gifts of this nature have the added benefit of
motivating and raising the sights of other potential donors,” Keim said.
DeCola said the decision to participate in the
campaign was an easy one.
“When Tom Keim first approached us, it wasn’t a
very long conversation,” he said. “We understand what the need is and the
role that we should play. We really felt that it was important for us to
demonstrate our commitment to the community and to this hospital. It just
makes good sense.”
