SGCMH Pulmonary Rehab

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, in operation since 1991, is designed to help participants do what others take for granted - breathe freely. The program focuses on education and physically reconditioning those who suffer with breathing disorders such as emphysema, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), chronic bronchitis, asthma, and occupational or environmental lung diseases. The Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehab Department can teach you how to take care of yourself, how to improve your fitness, and how to live a more comfortable life. Any physician may refer a patient to the pulmonary program.

Emphysema and chronic bronchitis are diseases which cannot be “cured.” However, there are many techniques, treatments, and lifestyle adjustments, which can effectively improve the health of some who have these conditions.

Each individual is unique. That is why a rehabilitation program, with a professional staff that can identify and meet your specific needs, is best.
