Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) is pleased to offer 3D Mammography, the latest advance in the fight against breast cancer.
Read what Dr. Theresa Cavins, SGCMH breast surgeon, has to say.

What is 3D Mammography?
3D mammography, also called tomosyntesis, provides more accurate images compared to 2D mammography. Research shows 3D mammography shows improved breast cancer detection rates, especially for small invasive cancers and women with dense breasts.

Do I need a referral for a 3D mammography?
Women 40 and older do not need a written referral for an annual screening for mammogram. Women with unusual breast symptoms need a written referral from a provider for a diagnostic 2D or 3D mammogram exam.

Will insurance cover the cost of a 3D mammography?

Because the technology approved by the FDA is new, we request you check your insurance coverage and benefits for 3D mammography to be sure you are covered.

Call your provider for a mammogram screening order, then call our convenient scheduling 573-883-4488.
Weekday evening and Saturday mammogram appointments are available upon request at the Bloomsdale Medical Centre.
