Many patients benefit from the new approaches in anesthesia and surgical techniques that require only a minimal recovery time. Those patients receive care through the one-day surgery department where they are admitted to a dedicated surgery suite for pre-op and recovery care.
The surgery department goes to great lengths to make sure patients are comfortable. For example, every patient receives purple footies, and heated gowns are used to keep patients toasty warm.
At the convenience of the patient's schedule, admissions and a preliminary assessment is completed before the scheduled day of surgery. Pediatric patients may have two visitors present with them in the surgery pre-op and recovery area.
