SGCMH Back to School Drive-Thru Event Scheduled for Thursday, August 6

The Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) 2020 Back to School Drive Thru event is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, from 11 am – 12:30 p.m. at the hospital.  This year due to COVID-19 concerns, the program will be a drive-thru.

Parents and students can drive up to the back of the hospital through the circle drive to pick up school supplies and other educational information.  The Ste. Genevieve County Health department will have additional information on immunizations included in the backpacks.

As in previous years, students will receive a backpack and school supplies such as pencils, notebooks, pens and erasers to give them a start on completing their supply list.  And, just like last year they will receive a sack lunch for the day.

“It is a great way to help the students in the community get ready for school where the need is greater than ever this year,” commented Tina Poston, marketing director for SGCMH. “Being a drive-thru event helps to comply with CDC recommended safety measures due to COVID. The parents will drive-up, load up and have a leg-up to start the school year.”

New this year students and their families will receive a box of produce provided by Heavenly Hope.  Each box will have lots of vegetables and fruit for them to enjoy.

“For us it’s sort of like the icing on the cake, only healthier.  Through this program and especially in collaboration with SGCMH, I am thrilled that we will provide food options to students and their families,” commented Jill Beckermann, Heavenly Hope.

Sponsors from organizations and businesses include Ste. Genevieve County Health Department, Shelter Insurance, Heavenly Hope, County Do-It, Eric Scott Leathers, SGCMH Medical Staff, MissouriCare, SGCMH Friends Foundation, Soul Sisters Boutique, Gegg Custom Home and Construction, LLC, State Farm and Heil Oil provided funds and other items such as earbuds, chapsticks, masks and hand sanitizer.

Registration is required.  Call 573-883-7729 or visit the hospital’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SGCMH/ to register.
