SGCMH Friends Foundation and Community Partners Awarded Grant for COVID Recovery Program

7/6/2020

Ste. Genevieve, MO – The Friends Foundation of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital in partnership with Heavenly Hope and the Ste. Genevieve County Nutrition Center received $7,000 in grant funding for the Ste. Genevieve County Nutrition & Essential Recovery Program. The Community Foundation of the Ozarks awarded the funds.

The new program was created to assist residents of Ste. Genevieve County who are suffering from the economic impact of COVID-19. Residents will receive nutritional foods including shelf-stable items & fresh produce for meals as well as hygiene products on a recurring basis for 6-12 months, based on the amount of qualifying applicants and available funds. To qualify residents must fit into one of four categories; low income, homeless, senior citizens and the homebound/disabled.

“The Friends Foundation is very excited to have this opportunity to partner with Heavenly Hope and the Ste. Genevieve County Nutrition Center,” stated Holli Ledbetter, SGCMH Friends Foundation Director. “We are all excited to help give back to the community.”

The first and third week of each month, the boxes will be distributed. Each box will contain fresh produce and other food items. The size of each family will determine the amount of produce and additional food items given to each recipient. Additionally, hygiene essential boxes will be available monthly.

“Through this program and especially in collaboration with these two organizations, I am thrilled that we will provide food options to families and the elderly who may be struggling financially or just keeping themselves distanced from others,” commented Laura Selby, Heavenly Hope Board Member.

The program starts July 7 and those in need will be required to answer a few questions to qualify. To register for the program call Holli Ledbetter at 573-883-7725.
