SGCMH Offers Pediatric Telehealth Services with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon

Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital now Offers Pediatric Telehealth Services to the Community

Ste. Genevieve County, MO - Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) is pleased to announce it now offers Pediatric Telehealth Services in partnership with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.  With more and more hospitals currently using telehealth, SGCMH and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon decided to bring the expertise of the SLUCare Physician Group of neonatologists and pediatric emergency physicians to Ste. Genevieve County by using enhanced video and audio technology.

“Our physicians caring for pediatric patients are able to receive remote consultation that may avoid a transfer,” said Dr. Konzelmann, emergency medicine, SGCMH.

The telemedicine service is the process of using electronic communication between health care providers to exchange medical information that improves a pediatric or newborn patient’s health care. Patients receive an initial diagnosis and treatment in their community, close to home.  In some cases, it may prevent the family from having to travel for medical care and they can breathe easier knowing pediatric expertise is right here.

“It gives you great peace of mind knowing you can have a pediatric specialist at the bedside within a matter of minutes if needed,” said Laura Bailey, RN, ER director, SGCMH.

SGCMH providers have the ability to collaborate with SLUCare pediatric physicians at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon 24/7. For SGCMH, this means having the opportunity to discuss pediatric cases, prevent unnecessary transfers, or in an acute situation, receive immediate care from a pediatrician with expertise in TeleED (emergency department) and TeleNICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).

“Connecting with SLUCare specialists at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon can give families that extra layer of comfort and professional expertise 24/7,” stated Dr. Konzelmann, emergency medicine, SGCMH.  “It takes access to care to a whole new level.”
