SGCMH Welcomes First Baby of 2021

Ste. Genevieve, MO – It’s a boy!  Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) is pleased to announce the first baby born into the county for the New Year.  Malakai Xavier delivered at 1:09 pm by Dr. Tony Lam. Southeast Missouri’s newest citizen and his family won the “First Baby of the Year” promotion by SGCMH and local area businesses.

Baby Boy, Malakai was born on January 4, at 1:09 pm, weighing exactly 7 pounds, and 20 inches long.  The parents, Xavier Coffman and Ashley Helm of Perryville, MO were excited and thrilled about their new baby being the first of the New Year at the hospital. It was a nice surprise for the family. 

“The process went so quickly and the excitement continued with having the New Year baby,” said Ashley. “We’re overjoyed with all the love and special care.” 

Mom Ashley mentioned it has been a delightful time and looks forward to going home to see how baby Malakai is greeted by his big brother, 2-year old Sebastian. Both children were born at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital.

Malakai and his parents were showered with gifts from the hospital and merchants all over the Ste. Genevieve area including Bloomsdale Bank that gifted the New Year baby a $100 savings account.
