Friends Foundation to hold Medicare workshop

The maze of Medicare can be confusing for those seeking care in the health system. The Friends Foundation at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital wants to make it easier.
On Thursday, August 13, the foundation will offer a free workshop titled "Medicare 101.” The class will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the hospital board room.
The presenter for the evening will be Karen Zerwig, a licensed Medicare professional, who will provide an overview on Medicare, address those new to Medicare, and answer questions people may have about Medicare coverage including when people are eligible for Medicare and how Medicare works with one's employer coverage.
“I urge anyone who is getting close to 65 or simply wants to understand how Medicare works, so that you can help a family member or friend to attend,” said Shawn Long, Director of the Friends Foundation. “Some people who sign up for Medicare are retired; others are still working. Wherever you fit, you become eligible for Medicare when you reach 65 and, in most cases, have to enroll. Medicare can be a complicated subject, so we’re going to shed some light on it at this workshop.”
Refreshments will be served, so an RSVP will be appreciated. Call Shawn Long at 573-883-7725.
