The Friends Foundation at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) held its annual golf tournament Friday, June 23 at the Ste. Genevieve Golf Club with a full slate of golfers. The morning started hot and humid with a threat of rain, but by first tee off, the humidity dropped and not a drop of rain hit the ground—perfect weather for golfing.

Tom Keim, SGCMH CEO, welcomed participants and thanked the Friends Foundation for all they do for the hospital.

“Our Friends Foundation has done a lot over the years to raise additional money for the hospital,” Keim said. “They’ve helped us add on to our surgery department; purchase additional equipment, including 3D Mammography which identifies more cancer in women than standard mammography; and they’re also doing work to support our central monitoring system in OB. It’s because of you our friends that we’re able to raise this money and keep investing in our hospital so we’re able to deliver the best possible care for the people in our community. We couldn’t do it without you.”

Ste. Genevieve Vision Care has quickly become the team to beat as they have taken the top spot in the past few tournaments. In the championship flight they had a score of 56 (Clint Wolk of Ste. Gen Vision shows off his signature back flip). Second and third place finishers with a scorecard playoff and a score of 60 were MRV Bank and Rottler and Huelskamp.

With a scorecard playoff, all A flight finishers had a score of 64. First, second and third place winners, respectively, were Artisan Contracting, Alliance Water and Jim Francis State Farm.

B Flight winners were St. Louis Communications/Dicom with a score of 67; BKD with a score of 68; and Southeast Health with a score of 69.

On hole ten, Keim took the opportunity to meet and greet golfers and everyone had some fun playing golf trivia for prizes.

Keim gave a special thank you to: lunch sponsors Navin, Haffty & Associates; dinner sponsors Lakenan Insurance and Dr. Craig Ruble; dessert sponsor Jim Francis State Farm Insurance; beverage sponsors Robert P. Walsh, MBA, MS, PhD, CRNA and Keeli Plati, MS, CRNA; hole-in-one sponsor Horner Shifrin; and prize sponsor Loida Ag.

The charity golf tournament is one of the signature events for The Friends of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, which was established in the fall of 2003. Board members are Bruce Giesler, president, Mary Odneal, vice-president, Mike Horrell, secretary/treasurer, Craig Ruble, MD, Jim Francis, Theresa Cavins, MD, Rob Walsh, MBA, MS, PhD, CRNA, Jan Loida and Laurie Ebeling.

The foundation’s next big event is the Black Tie Gala on November 4, 2017. The theme for this year’s event is Old Hollywood. For ticket information contact the Friends Foundation at 573-883-7725.
