Lhoist donates to Friends Foundation

Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Friends Foundation is wrapping up its 2016 fundraising efforts on a very high note. Lhoist North America in Ste. Genevieve pledged $50,000 toward the 3D Mammography at the Bloomsdale Medical Centre.

Tom Reeder, Lhoist plant manager, said the donation was important and the cause hit close to home.
“Our Ste. Genevieve plant recently has had experiences with employee’s and family effected by breast cancer, and we all agreed it was a very worthy cause to have this modern capability so close to a small rural community like Ste. Genevieve,” said Reeder. “We all want to see breast cancer brought under control and conquered. We feel this technology is a very positive step in that direction.”

Tom Keim, SGCMH CEO, is very proud of the community support for the hospital.

“We are a strong, independent hospital because of the great support we receive from our business community,” said Keim. “We can’t thank Lhoist enough for their generosity and community spirit. Their gift will help provide this community with the most advanced diagnostic breast care available today.”

Vickie Winkler, Friends president, said the foundation had a three-fold focus this year.

“On behalf of the Foundation, I’m grateful to Lhoist and all of our contributors who joined in support of our efforts,” said Winkler. “We concentrated on raising money for our 3D Mammography, OB central monitoring system and surgery center, and our community generously stepped up to the plate. The technology we now have at SGCMH will positively impact the health of our community for years to come.”
