SGCMH hosts Healthcare Discovery Day

Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital hosted Ste. Genevieve High School for a day of healthcare discovery. The event introduced students to career opportunities in healthcare.
“It’s nice to bring the students to the hospital so they can see healthcare in action,” said Courtland Hampton, RN, BSN Clinical Educator. “The students are very enthusiastic and we hope that by seeing what our medical professionals do on a daily basis they will be encouraged to pursue a career in healthcare in the future.”
Students shadowed professionals in a variety of departments including Medical Records, Med Surg Nursing, Oncology, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Lab, ER, Pharmacy, Social Services, Respiratory Therapy, Marketing, Administration and Diagnostic Imaging. The event was an exciting, hands-on experience for students to see what a healthcare professional does, and drew a lot of positive feedback.
