SGCMH welcomes new Occ Med physician

Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) welcomes Shaping Sun, MD, MPH, board certified occupational medicine physician to its staff.
Dr. Sun has been practicing occupational medicine for the past 15 years, and has seen workers from virtually all employers in the St. Louis and surrounding areas.
With a strong background in trauma surgery and ophthalmology, Dr. Sun shifted her medical interests to occupational medicine where she enjoys not only providing medical care for individual patients, but for the population base, as well.
“Occupational Medicine focuses on the prevention, evaluation, treatment and resolution of health conditions caused by the workplace environment,” Dr. Sun said. “As specialists in occupational medicine, we are thoroughly trained to assess the origin of worker injury and illness, taking past history, work conditions and other factors into consideration so that injuries and illnesses are properly classified and treated appropriately to ensure workers’ safe return to work. Besides providing great medical care, we understand the workers' compensation system, and its impact on a company's financial health.”
Dr. Sun said she is happy to be working at SGCMH.
“This hospital has a very caring environment,” she said. “I’ve seen too many hospitals that are more about business than patients. Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital has a culture that’s right for me. I look forward to getting to know the area’s business community.”
Dr. Sun is also a board certified medical review officer and a DOT certified medical examiner. She can be reached at the SGCMH Occupational Medicine Department at 573-883-7759.
