SGCMH Announces Town Hall Meetings

Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital invites residents to attend one of two town hall meetings set for Thursday, February 1 and 8 at 5:00 p.m. at Progress Sports Complex meeting room at 21390 Highway 32.

“We’re going to talk about the state of healthcare in general, our rural health infrastructure, and what it means to be a hospital board member,” said SGCMH CEO Dr. Steve Pautler. “We’ll also give the community an opportunity to ask questions because we want a good connection between our community members and our health organization. Providing two-way communication is extremely important, especially when we’re talking about healthcare our neighbors and friends.”

SGCMH Hospital services have grown tremendously, and employee numbers have grown from a mere 13 back in 1969 to over 500 today.

“We’re one of the biggest employers in the county,” said Pautler. “We have nearly a 40-million-dollar payroll each year. Many of our employees and providers live here, shop here, worship here and raise their families here. I consider that to be a huge commitment to the community not only for the general health, but the economic health and vitality of the community.”

Pautler also wants residents to know more about the important role of a board of trustee member.

“Trustees are responsible for leading and overseeing the progress and success of our hospital in achieving our mission and vision in a manner guided by the hospital’s values,” explained Pautler. “The board is accountable for ensuring that the hospital provides benefits and services that will help meet the health care needs of the Ste. Genevieve community. Trustees are also responsible for ensuring sound and successful fiscal performance by the hospital.”

The SGCMH Board of Trustees is comprised of five members who are elected by the community.
