Visitor's Guide
VISITOR INFORMATION
Our visitor protocols have been changed due to the coronavirus.
Please click here for the latest information.
Wireless Internet Access
Wireless Internet connection is no longer just a perk of hotels and coffee shops. Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital offers patients and visitors complimentary wireless Internet access in the hospital. This allows patients and family members to use their personal mobile devices (laptops, cellphones, tablets, etc.) to stay in touch with family members and friends during their stay.
Patient Phone Calls
Patients may place outgoing calls 24 hours a day. To avoid interrupting their rest, incoming calls to patient rooms are accepted between 7 am and 10 pm as long as the patient is not receiving treatment.
Patient Confidentiality
We are committed to patient privacy and confidentiality. Our confidentiality policy allows patients to choose who receives details about their health condition. The patient lists to whom information may be given and this is strictly enforced.
Infection Control
Many patients have weakened immune systems that make them very susceptible to a variety of illnesses. People who are ill with a cold, fever, diarrhea, flu, or a communicable disease should not come into the hospital. In addition, children who have been exposed to chicken pox, measles, mumps, pinkeye, or rubella should not visit patients in the hospital.
We wish to protect all our patients, visitors, and staff from infections and communicable diseases. For this reason the staff follows precautions to prevent the spread of organisms (germs) from all patients, not just patients who have infections or communicable diseases. These precautions may include hand washing, the use of alcohol wash and special clothing such as gloves, gowns, etc. A sign on the patient’s door will notify visitors if they should speak with the attending nurse about special precautions before entering the room.
Cafeteria
Patient's guest are welcome in the hospital cafeteria from 7:30 am to 6 pm seven days a week. Breakfast items are served from 7:30 - 8:30 am. Lunch is available from 11:15 am to 1:15 pm. Dinner is served from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. Lunch and dinner features hot meals seven days a week. The cafeteria is conveniently located on the lower level of the hospital. For the convenience of visiting guest, there are a variety of vending machines with snack items located on the lower level.
Nicotine Policy
Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital strives to provide a safe and healthy environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. Consistent with that aim, the hospital does not permit smoking or vaping on the grounds, inside the hospital, in parking lots, or in buildings owned by the hospital
.
Gift Shop, Petit Tresors
The SGCMH Auxiliary has a gift shop in the lobby of the Hospital. The shop carries a wide selection of merchandise including baby quilts, hand-quilted by the Auxiliary. The gift shop volunteer staff will deliver your gift free to patients at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital along with a personalized note. Proceeds from sales are used by the Auxiliary to purchase equipment and fund projects for the Hospital. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, closed Saturday and Sunday. For more information or to send a gift to a patient, call 573-883-2751, ext. 224.
Discrimination Statement
All staff will treat all customers with, dignity, respect and compassion. SGCMH does not discriminate against any person on the basis of gender, race, religion, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical or mental impairment, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, military or veteran status, insurance, or any other attribute or characteristic that is protected under applicable federal, state, and/or local law in admission, treatment, or participation in its programs, services, and activities or employment.
